On the Vacuum Cherenkov Radiation and the Elusive Effects of Lorentz Violation

We investigate further [1], [2] the possibility of phenomenologically visible effects of violation of Lorentz invariance in the framework of noncommutative electrodynamics. We show that, in this framework, Cherenkov radiation is permitted in vacuum and we explicitly compute its spectrum. We discuss the phenomenological impact of the merge of this new analysis with the old results of the substantial modification to the spectrum of the synchrotron radiation obtained in [1] and conclude that to see these Lorentz violating effects from astrophysical phenomena one should, in principle, consider the pulsars’ radiation spectrum.
